Kanawha Pastoral Counseling Center Last Chance for Upcoming Workshops in Charleston Starts this Thursday Addictions and Introduction to Motivational Interviewing Motivational Interviewing is the state - of -the - art response to dealing with people struggling with addictions.   Motivational Interviewing originally emerged in the field of addictions treatment as an alternative to traditional confrontational, authoritarian methods. Since inception, it has proven effective in a wide variety of settings involved in assisting people in making positive behavior changes.  This is a great class for anyone interested in understanding how to help people struggling with an addiction. Clergy, counselors, nurses, addictions specialists are all welcome. CEU's available. KPCC Valentine Results and Mindfulness

KPCC's Annual Valentine Survey Results The responses from this year's annual Valentine Survey are in. We had over 140 responses. Cards and Dinners continue to be top ways of expression the feelings of the day, with flowers a close third. 53% reported having a great day. Many had a story to tell: Click here to see this year's responses It's not too late to take the poll: Click here Dynamic Mindfulness Workshop  April 13 and 14, 2012 Charleston, WV Daniel Golman, author of Emotional Intelligence describes Mindfulness as an essential aspect of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. In this workshop we will also explore the "body as map of the psyche"; non-violence in therapy, empathic skills such as contact and tracking (reading subtle, unconscious cues); and how creating safety, embracing resistance, and protecting the spirit encourage the cooperation of the unconscious. Mindfulness is not meditation, it is a way of becoming more aware of self and other. This workshop will introduce practical, evocative relationship skills. It is designed for psychotherapists, counselors, social workers, healing arts practitioners, message therapists and students in these fields. It is also open to individuals seeking to experience greater mindfulness and inner connection.
